Seven houses buried by landslides in Maledhunga

The landless settlers village in Maldhunga of Pang in Parbat has fallen into high risk due to the continuous landslide.

 

Debris from the landslide in Nuwar hills of Kusma municipality-1 has put the entire settlement at risk.

 

The landslide has buried seven houses. The only road linking Myagdi and Mustang to the national road network has also been obstructed repeatedly at Maldhunga.

 

The entire village is at risk of being swept away in the landslide that continuous to fall due to the incessant rainfall, the locals said. Twenty-five households have already been displaced.

 

However, assistant CDO Chudaraj Bhattarai says that some families still continue to live in the area despite the call to vacate the area. “We are trying to shift the settlement to a safer location”, he said.

 

There are 65 households in the area.
