Nepali migrant sentenced to death in Qatar

16 June, 2014

A criminal court in Qatar sentenced Nepali migrant worker Kushsal Karki of Syangja on March 31 to death on the charge of murdering a fellow countryman. Karki has been charged with murdering Mohammad Irshad Ansari of Mahottari on October 20, 2012. Acting Nepali ambassador to Qatar Ganesh Prasad Dhakal said Karki has appealed to the Appellate court after coming to know of the Qatari law in which the government can grant amnesty if the two sides, the victim and the accused, come to an agreement. Police had arrested five migrants last week in connection with another murder.
