KATHMANDU, July 16: A total of 120 Nepali nationals imprisoned in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for various offenses have been granted a general amnesty.

The UAE government announced the pardon on the occasion of Eid al-Adha, a major festival observed by followers of Islam, waiving the remaining prison sentences of these individuals.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, the Embassy of Nepal in Abu Dhabi confirmed that the UAE authorities had granted clemency to the Nepali inmates, allowing them early release. The embassy expressed gratitude to the UAE government for the gesture.
