Nepal embassy rescues 453 Nepali nationals from networking fraud racket in India’s Uttar Pradesh

The Embassy of Nepal in New Delhi has rescued 453 Nepali nationals, 115 women and 338 men, who had been lured into labour exploitation and networking fraud through social media in India’s border areas, according to a press release issued by the embassy on Monday.

Of those rescued, 19 individuals, including six women, have been placed under investigation on suspicion of involvement in the fraud network. The District Police Office, Rupandehi is conducting further inquiries.

The embassy extended its gratitude to the Uttar Pradesh government, Uttar Pradesh Police, Nepal Police, KIN India, and all agencies that provided direct and indirect support during the operation.

The embassy reaffirmed the Nepal government’s commitment to protecting Nepali nationals in India and urged all citizens to remain alert to fraudulent proposals made in the name of foreign employment and other inducements.
