Suresh Dhakal

Associate Professor, Central Department of Anthropology, Tribhuvan University, Kathmandu

Dr Suresh Dhakal, is an Associate Professor of anthropology at the Central Department of Anthropology, Tribhuvan University, Kathmandu. He holds a PhD in Anthropology from Tribhuvan University. He received the EU-MIDEA research grant and the Wenner-Gren Fellowship: Institutional Development Grant (IDG) at Cornell University for his PhD. Dr Dhakal completed his MPhil from the University of Bergen, Norway, and his MA in Anthropology from Tribhuvan University. He has been a research fellow at the Asia and Africa Area Study (ASAFAS) Institute at Kyoto University. He has authored/co-authored several books, book chapters and journal articles. He has presented his research works in several international seminars and conferences. He has served as an independent consultant for several national and international organisations. His current research interests, among others, include labour migration and poverty dynamics, anthropology of development, democracy in everyday life, local governance, land and agrarian relations, and social movements.
