ADAPT is a collaborative research project exploring the relationship between migration, climate change, and sustainable land use in developing countries. Focusing on rural communities in Nepal and Uganda, the project investigates how migration shapes land use practices and how mobility can support climate adaptation and more sustainable livelihoods. ADAPT explores how migration can influence farming practices, land management, and local resilience in places of origin. The project brings together researchers and practitioners from Norway, Nepal, and Uganda to study these questions through surveys, spatial analysis, participatory mapping, and community-based fieldwork. By combining local experiences with broader environmental and migration research, ADAPT aims to better understand the conditions under which migration can contribute positively to sustainable and climate-adaptive land use.
