Consultancy to Conduct a Research Study on the Mobility of Nepali Migrant Workers to Europe

The study aims to explore the mobility of Nepali migrant workers to Europe through qualitative interviews and the analysis of secondary data such as national-level datasets, demand letters published in national dailies, and content analysis of news and articles on migration from national dailies.

The study seeks to analyse the mobility of Nepali migrant workers to Europe by examining trends and patterns of outflows disaggregated by gender, destination country, and skills, using labour permit data from the Department of Foreign Employment alongside UNDESA migrant stock figures. It will further assess regulatory frameworks and governance systems through desk research and qualitative interviews. In addition, the research will conduct a demand analysis of Nepali workers in European countries based on demand letters published in national dailies between 2020 and 2025, and undertake an extensive content analysis of national dailies during the same period to capture migration narratives, including workers’ experiences, risks and protection mechanisms.
