Illegal Nepali migrant workers in Qatar wishing to return home no longer face hassle as Qatar i officials are playing a constructive role in the process, said Nepali Embassy officials in Doha.

Nepali Acting Ambassador to Qatar Ganesh Dhakal said officials of Qatar i Search and Follow-up Department (SFD) are playing a helpful role in sending illegal Nepali migrants home.

The SFD is responsible to issue exit permits to illegal migrant workers to return home. “Earlier, it would be a lengthy and complicated process to go home. Nowadays, the process has been relatively easier,” said Ram Prasad Aryal, an illegal migrant worker going through the process to return to Nepal.

“Apart those implicated in criminal cases, illegal workers can easily return home,” Dhakal said.

Likewise, the Qatar i government has recently introduced a law to take action against employers found to be offering jobs to illegal migrant workers. The law will come into effect from May 1.
