Woman arrested for allegedly defrauding job seekers

Banke police have arrested a 23-year-old woman for allegedly defrauding people by promising work visas to Japan. Tirsana Batha Magar of ward 5 of Baijanath Rural Municipality was detained on charges of collecting large sums from multiple individuals.

According to the Area Police Office in Kohalpur, Magar charged victims Rs1.4 to Rs1.5 million each. Deputy Superintendent of Police Aayush Prasad Joshi, the spokesperson for the District Police Office, Banke, said she had amassed Rs12.3 million before going into hiding for two to three months.

Victims had lodged complaints with the Department of Foreign Employment, leading to an arrest warrant against her. A police team from Kohalpur apprehended her on Sunday, and further investigation is ongoing.
