Nepal received Rs 1.19 trillion in remittance over the past nine months, marking a 10% increase compared to the same period last fiscal year, according to the latest report from Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB). However, this growth is lower than last year’s 17.2% surge.
In US dollar terms, remittance inflows reached $8.74 billion, a 7.3% rise, down from a 15.2% increase in the previous year.
The data is part of NRB’s Macroeconomic and Financial Situation of Nepal report, based on the nine months ending mid-April of the fiscal year 2024/25.
In addition, the net secondary income (net transfer) rose to Rs 1.301 trillion (Rs 1,301.94 billion), up from Rs 1.174 trillion (Rs 1,174.54 billion) during the same period last year.
The number of Nepali workers obtaining first-time approvals for foreign employment reached 358,222, while 249,652 workers received approval for re-entry. In comparison, these figures were 327,842 and 211,226 respectively during the same period last fiscal year.
