Husband and wife accused of murdering domestic worker in Myagdi

KATHMANDU, May 16: A husband and wife have brutally murdered a domestic worker in Malkwang, Dhaulagiri Rural Municipality -5, Myagdi.

Bal Bahadur Damai, 57, and his wife Karmati Darji killed Man Bahadur Damai, 46, who worked as a laborer in their own home. After locals informed them that an unclaimed body was found on May 11, a police team from the Darbang Area Police Office was dispatched. According to Police Inspector Sagar Paudel of the District Police Office, Myagdi, it was found that the victim, Man Bahadur, had been killed by hitting him with a spade.

The victim, Man Bahadur, had been working as a domestic worker at the home of the accused, Bal Bahadur. The police are investigating whether the crime occurred inside the house and the body was taken and discarded elsewhere, or if the attack took place at the location where the body was found.

According to Police Inspector Poudel, the accused couple, Bal Bahadur and his spouse, struck Man Bahadur on various parts of his body before throwing the body about 700 meters below their house.

“The couple has admitted to committing the murder together and further investigation into the incident is ongoing,” said Police Inspector Poudel. The accused couple has been remanded by the District Court of Myagdi, and an investigation is underway under charges of murder case.
