Govt to administer polio vaccine to Afghanistan returnees

KATHMANDU, August 24: The government is planning to vaccinate those returning from Afghanistan with the polio vaccine.

Minister of State for Health and Population Umesh Shrestha stated that the decision to vaccinate Nepali nationals returning from Afghanistan was taken in view of the spread of polio in Afghanistan.

All those arriving from Afghanistan have been asked to go to the nearby vaccination center to receive polio vaccination.

Following the takeover of Afghanistan by the Taliban rebels, Nepalis living there are returning home in rescue flights. The government has also been repatriating them in different phases.
