KATHMANDU, March 8: The Nepali Embassy in Thailand rescued 20 Nepali nationals stranded in Thailand and facilitated their return to Nepal on Friday.

On January 24, traffickers lured the individuals with promises of attractive salaries and employment opportunities and sent them to Thailand via New Delhi, India, with plans to work in Macau. After they were stranded, the Embassy of Nepal in Thailand intervened and arranged their safe return.

The embassy, in a press statement, has requested individuals to seek foreign employment only after obtaining approval according to the standards set by the Government of Nepal. The embassy also urged them not to go abroad with the intention of quickly making money as promised by fraudulent manpower agencies.

“The embassy urges individuals not to seek foreign employment in Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, or any other country in violation of the established standards. The embassy also earnestly requests the general public to help spread this message and contribute to preventing such issues,” it said in the statement.
