Woman arrested for 'swindling man' with job promise

The Metropolitan Police Crime Division on Wednesday arrested a 28-year-old woman for allegedly swindling a man of nearly Rs 350,000 promising him a lucrative job in Thailand.
 
The woman has been identified as Gayatri Wagle of Deurali-3, Nawalparasi district. She has been running D best Educational Consultancy in Kathmandu. She was arrested after police received a complaint against her from Gokul Chettri of Budhanilkantha, Kathmandu.
On the basis of an advertisement published in a national daily, Chettri had approached the consultancy for job in Thailand. The advertisement read, "Earn your international teaching experience in Thailand. Let's start your international teaching career right from here."
 
"I had paid her Rs 100,000 and her agent Rs 250,000 in Thailand after she promised me a lucrative job there with monthly salary of around Rs 60,000," Chhetri told the police.
 
He went to Thailand and met Bhimesh Dotel as per her instructions. Dotel in Thailand arranged his meeting with a Thai man, who escaped after receiving the remaining Rs 250,000. After he was offered no jobs for 20 days, he returned to Nepal and approached Gayatri to get his money back. The woman again sent him to Thailand promising him another job. He was again compelled to return home after he was offered no job for more than a month.
 
Police arrested Gayatri from Seuchatar and intensified investigation into the alleged the fraud. During preliminary investigation, police found that the consultancy was not registered with the Ministry of Education. She has been sent to Metropolitan Police Range Office for further investigation.
