According to the relatives of the deceased, 48-year-old Dip Bahadur Oli, his wife Bhima Oli and their 17-year-old son Mohan Oli of Tunibot village in Triveni Rural Municipality were killed in a house collapse following a landslide due to rain at Pallavi village in Theog subdivision of Shimla on Monday morning.

Kiran Oli, a relative of Dip Bahadur, informed that the landslide struck the house at around 11 am on Monday.

Kiran said that Bhima, Mohan and eldest son Lokendra had gone to India only a month ago to help Dip Bahadur, who had been working in Shimla for the past year.

“The incident occurred when Lokendra was at work and the other three were in the house,” said Kiran.

The Oli family had gone to India for employment to earn for Lokendra’s treatment. Lokendra, who had gone to Malaysia in February 2022, came back two months later as he fell ill.

According to the family, preparations are being made to bring the bodies home. However, landslides have damaged various road sections in the area obstructing movement.

According to the Tribune, 13 landslides and nine flash floods have been reported in the state in the past 36 hours as per the state emergency operation centre.
