THAKUR SINGH THARU

Three Nepali migrant workers have been robbed of belongings and IRs 50,000 in cash while they were returning home to Jarjarkot from Uttarakhand in India.

Indian police said Bir Bahadur Buda  and his son Karan of Thailakar in Jajarkot and Bir Singh Budha of the same VDC were robbed by some unidentified people. The looters, travelling on a bus with victims from Haridwar to Rupaidiha, fed them sedative-laced water before before robbing them of their cash and belongings.

Indian security officials said they handed over the victims, who were found in an unconscious state at Rupaidiha Bus Park in India, to Nepal Police officials.

The victims are undergoing treatment at the Bheri Zonal Hospital.

“Bir Singh fell unconscious after drinking water offered by an unknown man who sat next to him in the bus. After that Karan also drank the water and fell unconscious,” Bir Bahadur said from the hospital bed. He also said that no passenger dared to speak in his favour when he cried for help.

“After that looter covered my mouth with his hand and then I too fell consciousness,” he said. Sub-inspector Suman Kharel said their investigation shows that the Nepali migrants were robbed of IRs 50,000.

The victims said they are left in the lurch as they do not have money to pay bills for food as well as medicines and reach their home.

Doctors involved in their treatment said that one of the victims is yet to regain conscious.

The victims had gone to Rudraprayag in Uttarakhand in India six months ago for employment.
