Teenager girl being trafficked to Pakistan rescued

A Nepali girl being trafficked to Pakistan has been rescued from Gaddachauki, a border crossing point in Western Nepal. The trafficker had planned to take the girl to Pakistan via Delhi-Punjab-Kashmir but was rescued by Maiti Nepal at Gaddachuaki.

The girl is a resident of Bhadaure VDC of Kaski District. Authorities claimed that, as Nepalese girl are usually trafficked to Gulf countries via India, the incident of a girl being trafficked to Pakistan was first of its kind.

The girl has told the police that she had been taken to Pakistan earlier via Dubai but had returned to Nepal a while ago.

Her father, who had been working in Malaysia, wasn't aware about her first visit to Pakistan.

Bharat Sunwar, a resident of Dhading, who was accompanying the girl, is currently in police custody. Sunwar had promised the girl that he would leave her at his relative's place in Pakistan.

According to Maheshwori Bhatta, coordinator at Maiti Nepal, Kanchanpur, they grew suspicious of Sunwar's motive after talking to him and assumed that the girl was on the process of being trafficked. The truth unfolded after they contacted the girl's family.

Interrogations by the authorities revealed that the girl's citizenship and passport were prepared by others without her knowledge. Sunwar was also carrying a consent paper written by the girl's father that, apparently, was fake.

In the paper, her father is shown as giving consent for her daughter to be taken to Pakistan on the condition that her education would be taken care of.

The consent paper contains fingerprint of the girl's father, who has denied having written any such document.

At present, the girl is under the care of Maiti Nepal.
