A day after he was arrested, police today handed over the self-proclaimed sadhu, Bijay Bhandari to the Department of Foreign Employment (DoFE) for further action. 

Police had arrested, Bijay Bhandari aka Swami Bishnu Prapannacharya, a resident of Gulmi’s Dhurkotbastu VDC-4, for allegedly swindling people of millions of rupees by luring them to send to the United States, from Tamghas of Gulmi on Tuesday.

Earlier on August 10, the Department of Foreign Employment had written a letter to the Gulmi District Police Office requesting his arrest. 

After his arrest, Bhandari said that he had collected Rs 3.6 million from 55 persons to organise a yaga in the foreign land. He pleaded innocence saying he was duped by his New Delhi-based guru Nitya Bihari Das. Bhandari had collected a hefty amount from different youths of Gulmi, Syangja, Gulmi and Parbat.
