Road accidents claiming lives of Nepalis in Qatar

Nepali migrants working in Qatar have lost their lives in road accidents. About 24 Nepalis have died in 2013, including the tragic death of the five Nepali construction workers on Thursday, The Arab Times reported.

According to Nepali Embassy in Doha, nine Nepali expatriates died in a road accident last month. About three Nepalis died on June 11 when a mini-bus carrying them back to their accommodation after a day’s work met with an accident. Earlier, fourteen Nepalis were killed when an accommodation barge operated by a Dubai firm sank off the Doha coast on June 29, 2009. The accident had also claimed the lives of 11 Indian nationals.

Similarly, in September 2006, a group of seven Nepali bachelors, all working for a computer maintenance firm were burned to death in Najma when their flat was destroyed in a fire.
