Minister for Foreign Affairs Madhav Prasad Ghimire said a lasting solution to the problem of Bhutanese refugees lies in their voluntary and safe repatriation to their homeland with dignity and honour.

Speaking at a meeting with United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees António Guterres in Geneva on Friday, Minister Ghimire made it clear that Nepal has always respected the rights of refugees on humanitarian grounds. Minister Ghimire appreciated UNHCR’s role in management of the Bhutanese refugees in Nepal.

Antonio appreciated the government of Nepal for cooperation in finding a durable solution to the problem.
