Remittance to be used in development works: PM

Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal has pledged to utilise the money remitted by migrant workers in development works.

Addressing the Nepali community at Nepal’s Abu Dhabi-based embassy on Sunday, PM Dahal, who is leading a 13-member delegation to the World Future Energy Summit, said the event was highly important for Nepal. The PM is on a four-day visit of the UAE.

“We have failed to make use of our tremendous hydropower potential. We want to pour the capital coming from foreign employment into development projects,” he said.

PM Dahal said development works were put on the back burner since the parties were more focused on political issues. “The leadership must focus on the country’s development now,” he added.

The experience and capital of Nepalis working abroad is essential for the country’s development, he noted. “The government is aware of the need for proper utilisation of their hard-earned wealth,” Dahal told the Nepali community. The government attaches high priority to resolving the problems faced by the Nepalis working abroad.

Passport renewal fee will be reduced, Dahal assures

Minister for Energy Janardan Sharma, Foreign Secretary Shanker Das Bairagi, Nepal’s Charge d’Affaires to UAE Netra Bahadur Tandon, Chief of Protocol Deepak Adhikari were among the officials present at the interaction.
