Qatar’s ambassador calls on DPM Mahara

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Krishna Bahadur Mahara today held a meeting with Qatar’s Ambassador to Nepal Ahmed Jassim Mohamed Ali al-Hamar at the former’s office in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
 
During the meeting, Minister Mahara expressed government’s concerns about the security of Nepali migrant workers in Qatar and those hired by Qatari companies based in other Gulf countries in the wake of diplomatic crisis in Qatar.
 
He urged the Qatari envoy to give special priority to the safety of Nepali workers there, according to the MoFA. In response, the ambassador assured that the Qatari Government would take special measures for the safety of Nepalis working in Qatar and in Qatari companies based in other Gulf countries.
 
Meanwhile, SAARC Secretary General Amjad Hussain B Sial also paid a courtesy call on DPM  Mahara today. During the meeting, the two discussed matters relating to SAARC activities.
 
Stating that Nepal would take an initiative to create a conducive atmosphere for hosting the next SAARC Summit, Minister Mahara stressed on continuous bilateral and multilateral dialogues among the member countries.
 
Meanwhile, Japanese Ambassador to Nepal Masashi Ogawa called on Minister Mahara at the latter’s office today. On the occasion, the two dwelled on matters of bilateral assistance, mutual interests and cooperation.
