Project provides jobs to 50,000

A multi-donor employment programme has reportedly created job s for 50,000 youths in the country in the last five years.

The programme has been jointly implemented since 2008 by the Ministry of Education and HELVETAS Swiss Intercooperation with financial support from UK Aid, World Bank and Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation.
At a programme in the Capital on Wednesday, it was informed that the Fund has provided skill training to over 60,000 people and around 80 percent of them are currently gainfully employed. Speaking at the inaugural session, Education Secretary Somlal Subedi said the programme was not just supporting youths but was helping boost the national economy along with the technical and vocational education sector.
 
“This is a great achievement. We look forward to working further with our donor communities to produce even better results in the days to come,” said Subedi.
