Police rescue 6 Muslim children being trafficked to India

Six children being trafficked to India for work have been rescued by Nepal Police from Birgunj sub-metropolis, which borders on the Indian town of Raxual. All the children rescued by the police with help of a local NGO are from Jingdiya village in Rautahat district. The children were being taken to Mumbai.

“We were tipped off that some kids were being taken to Mumbai for work. They were being taken for illegal works at some bag and paint factories,” said Superintendent of Police Dhiraj Pratap Singh. “As we tracked, we spotted six such kids.”

Singh said the matter was taken seriously as these children did not have guardians with them.
“Five of the kids are with us for investigation; their parents are going to come here. It may be due to poverty that the parents deliberately wanted to send the children or it could be outright human trafficking,” he said, adding that investigation would reveal the matter.

The children under police protection are Mahamad Gyasudin, Shesh Nesar, Tawaraj Sesh, Muhommad Sesh and Sesh Parwej- all from the Muslim community
