New job portal launched

Practical Action, in association with merojob.com, launched rojgari.com, a new job portal, on Tuesday.

What makes the portal different from others is that it tries to interconnect employers and with job aspirants.

Practical action has developed the website with financial support from the European Union.

“The portal has been developed to help both job seekers and job providers,” said Achyut Luitel, national director of Practical Action.

 According to him, it will convey adequate information on the requirement of both job providers and job seekers in a quick and easy manner.

Job seekers can submit the personal details and other related information on the website, while employers can update details about their requirement.

“People can have free access to the website,” said Shailendra Raj Giri, managing director of merojob.com.

The website is also expected to help vocational training institutes to promote their trainees by giving information about through the website.

Giri added that rojgari.com could also be used by an institute which is engaged in capacity building of the people.

According to Giri, people can also temporarily hire technicians like plumbers and electricians listed on the website just by sending an SMS.

People can also match jobs as per geographical location and their job criteria.

The website is expected to bridge the gap between demand and supply of workers which could help reduce unemployment. “The government has also envisioned facilitating such information technology to promote employment,” said Labour Department’s Director General Man Bahadur BK.
