More than 110 Palestinians and three Israelis have been killed during the week-long fighting between Israel and the Palestines creating insecurity in bordering towns of both countries. 

 

Pralhad Prasain, Nepalese ambassador to Israel, told Republica on Tuesday that the Nepali mission in Tel Aviv has not yet received any report of casualty or other problems to Nepalis working in Israel due to ongoing conflict. “There is no reason to panic despite rising tension between Palestine and Israel as Nepalis are in the safer areas. We are also in regular contact with Nepali community to update their status,” Prasain.

 

According to him, Israel government has been also regularly issuing public announcement urging general public to hide in bunker inside the home once sirens are triggered in their neighborhoods.

Nepalese embassy in Tel Aviv has already issued a notice on Monday urging Nepali community in Israel to follow the safety instructions as announced by Israel government that include using the bunkers, updating themselves about the news about the conflicts and remaining in regular contact with the embassy and local police. 

 

"As of now we are safe and are not under imminent danger even though we are hear frequent sounds of shelling from both sides. We were advised by the Israel government to use bunkers which are built in almost every house here, in the case of bombardment in our neighborhoods," said Sunita Tamrakar, a Nepali caregiver working in Kibuzz Berri, a 30-minute walking distance from Gaza, the flashpoint of conflict.

 

Around 8,000 Nepalese, most of them caregivers, are working in Israel, which is also most lucrative destination for Nepali female workers. Besides working as caregiver, some Nepalese are also engaged in agriculture farms in different parts of Israel.
