Nepalis in US help renovate school

Nepalis living in the United States, particularly students, have recently renovated the Renuka Devi School building at Hemaganga VDC in Ramechhap.

Aashraya Foundation Nepal, formed by the students studying in USA in 2007, provided Rs 1.5 million to repair the dilapidated three-room school building.

The classrooms were in a decaying state specially after September 2011 earthquake that ravaged most parts of the area.

According to a press release issued by AF Nepal, School Management Committee was unable to rebuild the building, home to 200 students, due to budget crunch.

AF Nepal vice-president Pradip Khanal said they decided to help the school after they saw the children taking classes in a building that could collapse at any moment.

AF Nepal has been supporting thousands of children with education materials, scholarship, building classroom and toilet construction, plantation project, health facilities and furniture to many schools in their homeland.
