Nepalis in Qatar hope for the best

HOM KARKI

As the Constituent Assembly polls near back home, Nepali migrant workers in Qatar have said the election is a way to end the transition facing their country. They are of the view that one party should secure a majority this election for the country’s betterment.

Chet Narayan Shrestha from Okhaldhunga, who has been working in Qatar for the past 14 years, said that election is important for the Nepali migrants in Qatar. “We are living here temporally. A new constitution should be issued so as to create opportunities for people like me to sustain back home,” said Shrestha, who was found to be chatting with his colleagues about political developments in Nepal at Jaidha tower in Qatar. He said that the migrants were closely following political developments in Nepal. He said that he was enquiring with his family in Nepal about which party they would vote for.

Sundar Bhandari from Butwal said the election should not be disrupted as it is an opportunity for people to choose their representatives to write their constitution for the first time in history. He believes that the door to development will open if the constitution is drafted. He urged political leaders to develop Nepal, ending the compulsion for its citizens to leave the country for jobs.

Ram Ekbal Yadav from Rupandehi rued that he was deprived of his right to vote. He demanded an alternative arrangement to enfranchise them.
