Nepali worker kills self in South Korea

A Nepali migrant worker committed suicide at Pohang in north Gyeongsang Province, South Korea, on Wednesday night.

Raj Kumar Gurung, 22, of Bhanu-5 in Tanahun district, was found hanging near his apartment at around 11:30 pm. The victim, who came here under Employment Permit System in April, had been working at Yusan Hi-tech company in Pohang.

According to Krishna Gurung of Itahari, who has been working in the same company, Raj Kumar was found hanging with a rice cooker wire. The victim had left the office at around 8:30 pm, saying he had to buy calling cards, added Krishna. Call details show that he had called his brother in Dubai before committing suicide.

The victim is survived by his parents, younger sister, wife and an infant daughter. According to Khagendra Parajuli, who used to work with Raj Kumar, his body had been taken to a local hospital for postmortem.man";
