A Nepali migrant worker, who was preparing to return to Nepal, died in Malaysia on Tuesday. A 22-year-old Angesh Tamang, who was caught working illegally in Malaysia three months ago, was rushed to a local hospital after he suddenly fell ill. Later, he breathed his last during the course of treatment.

 

It has been learnt that he was at the Johor-based deportation centre before he was taken ill.

 

According to Maheshwor Tripathi, Second Secretary at Embassy of Malaysia, Tamang was planning to return home on March 22 as he had already completed his jail term.

 

The deportation centre informed about Tamang’s death to the Nepali Embassy in Malaysia on Wednesday.

 

A postmortem report states that Tamang, a permanent resident of Majhiphedi Rural Municipality, Kavre, died due to safety shock and virus.

 

“He was preparing to take an air-ticket to Nepal. But we suddenly got the information of his passing,” said Nepal Federation of Indigenous Nationalities (NEFIN) Malaysia Chairman P.T Sherpa, who was coordinating with the embassy to return Tamang to Nepal.

 

The Embassy said that preparations are underway to hand over the body of Tamang to his family members.
