A Nepali migrant worker committed suicide near Seoul in South Korea on Tuesday.

Twenty-three-year-old Arjun Panta, a permanent resident of Hardineta Village Development Committee Ward No 6 in Gulmi district, was found hanging near a parking lot of a Daegu-based garment factory. Panta came here around two years ago under the employment permit system.

According to one of his Nepali friends, who has been working in the same company, Panta had been undergoing treatment for stomach ailments. He said Panta was in stress for the past one month.

It is learnt that the company had arranged Friday’s tickets for Panta to return home.

His body has been sent to a local hospital for post-mortem.

Labour Attaché at the Nepali Embassy in Seoul Anil Kumar Gurung is scheduled to visit the incident site on Wednesday.
