Nepal, Japan to strengthen bilateral ties

Foreign Affairs Minister Mahendra Bahadur Pandey held a meeting with his Japanese counterpart Fumio Kishida in Tokyo on Wednesday.

According to a press statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the two leaders discussed various issues such as strengthening dialogue between the two governments by creating a foreign ministry-level mechanism and cooperation in the priority areas of Nepal’s development. According to the ministry, Pandey also invited a high level delegation from Japan to take part in 18th Saarc Summit scheduled to be held in Kathmandu next month. Japan is an observer in the regional organisation.

Earlier, Pandey held discussions with Toshihiro Nikai, chairman of the Japan-Nepal Parliamentary Friendship League at Japanese Parliament House. The Nepali delegation also acquired information on the working procedure of the Japanese legislature.
