Nepalgunj, Dev.1: An agreement was reached between the Nepali and Indian security officials and different organisations to control human trafficking.

A cross border interaction and sharing meeting held in Nepalgunj on Wednesday agreed to control all types of human trafficking activities by building better coordination and cooperation among the officials of both the nations.

Trafficking of Nepali women and children via Jamunaha border have been taking place since long.

Maheshwori Bista, police in-charge and inspector of Banke Women and Children Cell under the District Police Office, said that the meeting agreed to strictly control the trafficking of women and children from Nepal and rescue the Nepali citizens at risk in India.

The meeting was held in the presence of the security officials of the both the nations and officials of different non-governmental organisations working in anti-human trafficking sectors.

As human trafficking is a heinous crime, the meeting concluded deciding to strictly control and prevent human trafficking, Bista said.

The Indian officials, including police inspector of Rupadiya Police Office and Child Protection Officer Bijay Chaudhary said that they would act accountably to implement the decision for the prevention of human trafficking.

The meeting was orgaganised by Banke UNESCO in the support of Plan International and in cooperation with Nepalgunj Sub Metropolitan City.

Prior to this, a similar meeting was held in Bahraich of India a few months ago.
