Nawalparasi notorious for human trafficking

Stakeholders today said border points in Nawalparasi were used the most to traffick humans into Bihar and Uttar Pradesh. 
According to Law Exploration and Source Development Centre, human trafficking via border points at Triveni, Jholnipur, Bishnupura, Bhujahawa and Maheshpur in the district has increased of late.

Central programme Coordinator Binod Lamichhane at Law Exploration and Source Development Centre said 25 VDCs in the district were at high risk of human trafficking. He added that 16 border points were being used to traffick humans. Nawalparasi shares borders with Bihar and Uttar Pradesh. 

Nawalparasi CDO Kesavraj Ghimire said controlling human trafficking was becoming a challenge due to the porous border. He said they would work in collaboration with authorities in Bihar and Uttar Pradesh to control criminal activities.
