Mumbai tragedy: 3 Nepalis dead in building collapse

Three Nepalis were among the seven killed in a Mumbai building collapse in India on June 22.
Nandakali Sarki of Surkhet district, his 10-year-old daughter Pabitra and his brother-in-law Dhan Bahadur Bhul of Kailali were among the victims killed when a four-storey decrepit building near Dahisar station collapse d. The New Delhi-based Embassy of Nepal, meanwhile, was unaware of the incident.
 
Nandakali and her daguther had arrived in Mumbai to visit her husband, Mangle, and son, Khuman, who were working there. Dhan Bahadur had accompanied the mother and daughter to Mumbai.
 
The Mumbai-based Nepalis had gathered money for the funeral service of the three victims.
In a similar incident, five Nepalis had died in a building collapse in Thane on April 4. The victims were identified as Mujahir Abdul Majid Raja, Barsanu Farzan Ali Khan, Rukaya Khatun Mahahid Raja, Miladin Nisa Musaaid Raja and Zulekha Khatun Musaaid Raja from Kapilvastu. Altogether 72 people had perished in the incident while more than 100 were injured.
 
According to the counselor section of the Nepali embassy, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Kapilvastu District Administraton Office were requested to verify the next to kin of the victims on June 11 to collect the compensation provided by the disaster management authority of Maharastra.
