Minister Bista leads Nepali labour panel to Geneva

Minister for Labour, Employment and Social Security Gokarna Raj Bista left for Switzerland on Saturday to participate in the 109th Session of the International Labour Conference.
 
Minister Bista, who is leading a Nepali delegation, will address the plenary session of the conferenceon on Monday. He will address at ministerial meetings to be held among non-proliferation countries and Asia Pacific nations on Tuesday. Joint-secretary at the ministry Ram Prasad Ghimire, who is part of the entourage, said Minister Bista interact with Colombo Process Countries’ minister and representatives on Tuesday.
 
Nepal will discuss the issues of migrant workers’ security, foreign employment discipline and management while seeking increased productivity of the workers by establishing good labour relations and by upholding workers’ interest and welfare, Ghimire added.
 
Nepal will prioritise topics related to increasing opportunities for internal employment, enhancing coordinated cooperation among the stakeholders and achieve sustainable growth.
 
Nepal will hold separate meetings with ministers and high-ranking officials of migrant workers’ destination countries as well as director general of the International Labour Organization (ILO), among other top officials.
