Malaysia opens 11 job sectors

Malaysia– one of top five foreign job markets for Nepalis– has opened 11 new job sectors for foreign workers. The decision will be effective to migrant workers from next year. 

According to Malaysian government, foreign workers can get hired in security guards, casino, garment, mines, catering, hotels, laundry, fast food and others. Currently, the host country is hiring Nepalis in mainly in construction and manufacturing. 

The decision has increased the chance of hiring Nepali in lucrative jobs like security guards, waiters and waitresses. Private security guards in Malaysia earn at least Malaysian Ringgit 1,100 ( Rs 29,500)– twice the salary of construction and manufacturing sectors. 

About 25,000 Nepalis will get benefit form the decision as security guards job is popular among Nepalis. Malaysian Home Ministry has decided to hire 70 security guards in a company and above 47 had applied for it. Malaysia has decided to hire exclusively Nepali in security guard sector. 

Currently, about 3,000 Nepalis are employed in security and service sectors. According to Department of Foreign Employment, above 400,000 Nepalis are working in Malaysia till date.
