Indian National held for swindling Rs 2.14 million from foreign job seekers

Police on Tuesday said an Indian national was held on charge of swindling Rs 2.14 million from two foreign job seekers in pretext of sending them for lucrative jobs in Russia.
 
In a statement today, the Metropolitan Crime Division said 28-year-old Suraj Lal Joshi of Dehradun in India was arrested from Teku area yesterday. Joshi currently lives in Handigaun in KMC-5, runs a business in Chinatown area in Sundhara, according to police.
 
Joshi, lured his two gullible targets and assured them of lucrative jobs in Moscow, Russia, collected Rs 10, 70,000 each from Basanta Basnet and Kamal Oli of Dang district. The duo left for Dehil on June 3, 2016, were received by Johsi’s agent in Delhi before boarding a flight to Moscow. However, the agent left them stranded at the Hungary border via Ukraine.
 
Upon their arrival to Nepal after six months, the duo filed a complaint against Joshi at the MCD. Meanwhile, the suspect has been sent to the Metropolitan Police Range Teku for further investigation and action today itself, it said in the statement.
