Govt to provide vocational training to 10,000 aspirant migrant workers

In order to make aspirant migrant workers more qualified in the coming days, Foreign Employment Promotion Board (FEPB) under the Ministry of Labor and Employment (MoLE) will provide training to 10,000 people in the current fiscal year.

As a part of safer migration project, aspirant migrant workers will be provided trainings such as electrician's, shuttering, carpentry, scaffolding, masonry, plumbing, garment tailoring, cleaning/housekeeping and waiter among others.

The FEPB has partnered with the Swiss Agency for Development Cooperation (SDC) to produce skilled manpower. The FEPB has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Safer Migration Project (SaMi)/HELVETAS Swiss Intercooperation Nepal on Thursday to train 10,000 migrant workers in the fiscal year 2015/16.

“The free skill training will take place in a residential set up for 30 days which also includes free of cost food and accommodation facilities,” reads a press statement issued by (SaMi)/HELVETAS Swiss Intercooperation Nepal. The release even adds that the skill training is expected to capacitate potential migrant workers to negotiate for higher remuneration, and ensure safety and security at workplace along with career prospects.
