Kathmandu, Jan. 26: The government has formed a seven-member committee led by Joint Secretary for Home Ministry Phanindra Mani Pokhrel to present a concrete plan of action to solve various problems facing by Nepali youths in Dubai and other Gulf countries.

The committee was formed following a meeting of the Home Minister Bal Krishna Khand with the ministers and secretaries from the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Security and Ministry of Foreign Affairs held at the Home Ministry Tuesday. 

The members of the committee include Buddhisagar Lamichhane, Joint Secretary for the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Shesh Narayan Poudel, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Security, Haris Chandra Ghimire, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Bhim Dhakal, Senior Superintendent of Police of Nepal Police for Tribhuvan International Airport Security Office and Prakash Chandra Adhikari, Director for the Department of Immigration. Under Secretary of the Foreign Employment Board Dinbandhu Subedi is the member secretary of the committee.

The stakeholders have discussed the coordinated operation and management of various agencies at the Tribhuvan International Airport.

During the meeting, Minister for Labour, Employment and Social Security Krishna Kumar Shrestha, Foreign Secretary Bharatraj Poudyal, Secretary at the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Maheshwar Neupane and Home Secretary Tek Narayan Pandey presented some of the action plans to resolve the problems being faced by Nepali migrant workers.

Joint Secretary at the Ministry of Home Affairs Mukunda Prasad Niraula after the meeting said that the meeting discussed the labour-related activities of Nepalis going abroad and the use of visit

visa for labour, immigration system and solving the problems of Nepalis working abroad.

The meeting has decided to coordinate with the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation to make appropriate structural improvements and management to create comfortable conditions for transit passengers at the airport.

Similarly, the Ministry of Tourism has also decided to manage the flight schedule with appropriate time intervals to make the arrival and departure of international flights systematic.

The meeting also decided to make necessary arrangements for scanning of cargo and luggage including X-ray and necessary regulation in coordination with the customs department.

In the meeting, Home Minister Khand said that the country's reputation would be enhanced if the Tribhuvan International Airport could be made well-organised.

He said that any work affecting our relation with any country should not be done from the Nepali airport. “Our only one international airport should be made safe and secured from all perspectives to give positive message to other countries,” Minister Khand said.
