Government to support migrant workers in litigation process
Minister for Labour Employment and Social Security Gokarna Bista today said the government will assist in the litigation of Nepalis migrant workers languishing in foreign jails in the course of their overseas employment.
In a press meet in the capital city on Monday, Minister Bista said that migrant workers were facing various hurdles due to lack of knowledge and information.
The ministry today said that about 500 Nepalis migrant workers in the Middle East are languishing in various jails. He further committed to reforming the foreign employment sector through regulations of various mechanisms.
Minister Bista also said that the banking system would be developed so that migrant workers would compulsorily send the remittance through formal channels.
Bista was of the view that a certain per cent of remittance would be invested in productive sectors and social security would be provided to the investors in return.
