Girls being smuggled to India rescued

Police have rescued five teenage girls and a woman who were being taken to New Delhi with an assurance that they would be sent to Dubai for employment. They were rescued from Bhadrapur of Jhapa. 

Krishna Gurung, 50, of Hetauda has been accused of luring innocent girls from different parts of the country, promising them jobs in Dubai. Gurung and the girls had caught a bus in Kathmandu for Jhapa where they reached around four in the morning. Gurung had told them that they would be flying to Dubai from New Delhi. 

Acting on a special tip-off, a police team deployed from Ward Police Office Bhadrapur had rescued the victim women from Tara Devi Gurung’s rented room near a Shiva temple at Bhadrapur. Accused Krishna, who is said to be brother of Tara Devi, managed to flee, said Inspector Jagannath Khanal. 

Sangita Bisankhe, 19, of Thangpaldhap, Sushma Tamang, 19, of Bhimkharka-8, Pratima Tamang, 19, of Gumsa-2, Anita Tamang, 20, of Banskharka-9, Sindhupalchowk, Ambika Roka, 19, of Chhewang, Dhading and Sita Danuwar, 30, of Hariban VDC, Sarlahi have been rescued, said police. 

The rescued females and Tara Devi have been sent to District Police Office Jhapa for further investigation, informed Inspector Khanal. 

Two nabbed in Sarlahi

An Armed Police Force team on Saturday arrested two persons for allegedly trying to traffick three girls to India, from Malangawa border in Sarlahi. The arrestees have been identified as Bir Bahadur Tamang of Sindhupalchowk and Chandra Bahadur Moktan of Atrauli VDC, Sarlahi. The APF said the duo had lured Som Maya Moktan of Makawanpur, Lila Thapa of Morang and Jangmi Sherpa of Dolakha with the promise of landing them jobs in India. They were held as they gave suspicious and contradicting statements to police, said DSP Bharat Basnet. He further added that they have been handed over to District Police Office for further investigation. Bir Bhadur Tamang admitted that they were promised a good commission for pushing girls to India, police said.
