First National Conference on Migration Begins

The First National Conference on Migration has begun here from today with an objective of providing suggestions to policy makers on different issues including present situation of Nepali workers, who are in overseas employment, and alertness to be adopted by workers, who will go for overseas employment in the near future.

Inaugurating the conference, Vice President Parmanand Jha said that the government should make suitable policy for monitoring and regulating the migration problem as it is a longstanding problem. The conference is organised

by 14 different organizations including the Ministry of labour and Employment, Foreign Employment Promotion Board, UN Women, European Union and Maiti Nepal.

Stating that going abroad for job is on rise as a fashion and labourers, who are in overseas employment fall prey to exploitations, Jha said the stakeholders should be serious towards it.

The Vice President said that both women and men, who are in overseas jobs, are being victimized, so the government should create an environment to women for their livelihood in the country as far as possible.

He further said there will be no development in the country until an environment is created to stay in the country for skilled human resources.
