Families seek return of stranded migrants

Families of Nepali migrant workers have urged the government to rescue 19 stranded workers in Malaysia. They have been suffering psychological and physical pressure in Malaysia, therefore the government must rescue them, the families said today.

Innovative and Samad outsourcing agencies had sent them to Press Metal SDN, Kuching, Malaysia.

The agencies had sent them in two groups on June 14 but the company did not receive them in Kuala Lumpur. “Therefore, immigration police arrested them and kept them in prison for four days,” said a relative Ganesh Aryal.

According to him, the migrant contacted their families and had asked for help.

“We had contacted the outsourcing agencies but they did not respond, therefore, we filed a case at the Department of Foreign Employment,” said relative Rishi Ram Duwadi.

Families and relatives of the workers also went to Gaushala-based Samad outsourcing agency. “We impounded the agent Tek Bahadur Adhikari at his office and he promised to assist the returning of the workers,” Duwadi said.

The agent flew to Kuala Lumpur and took the workers to Kuching to handover them to Press Metal SDN.

The company did not accept them and they were kept in miserable condition.

The agencies have agreed to bring them back to Nepal. “We have started the returning process,” said director of the outsourcing agency Samad Bibek Chalise.

Meanwhile, Nepali embassy in Kuala Lumpur has arranged for the return of 17 migrant workers after completing all the required documentation process.
