Families of 14 Qatar migrants get redress

The families of 14 Nepali migrant workers who died in various work-related accidents in Qatar between February 2009 and January 2016 have received compensation from the respective companies, the Nepali Embassy in Qatar said. The embassy collected 2.43 million riyal from the companies and sent it to the families of the deceased through the Home Ministry recently. The embassy had represented the victims in court in a legal battle with the employing companies for compensation. Embassy officials said a total of 320,000 riyal was spent in litigation. (PR)
