For the first time, the Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training is making teaching licence mandatory for all ‘teachers cum trainers’ associated with its affiliate colleges and academic institutions.

It may be noted that schoolteachers must pass Teachers’ Service Commission exams to acquire teaching licence.

Organising a press meet today, CTEVT said the new provision aims to produce more qualified and skilled human resources. The council has already finalised subjects to be included in the licence exams. Ramhari Lamichanne, CTEVT member-secretary, said they are currently consulting with education officials over relevant amendment to the CTEVT Regulations to effect this change.
