Nepalgunj, June 2: Coronavirus infection has been found again among India returnees at Jamunaha along Nepal-India border in Nepalgunj after a long time.

The border area has been alerted after three cases of COVID-19 were recently found among the India returnees.

Three India returnees from Jajarkot and Kalikot districts were tested positive for COVID-19, said Chiranjivi Gyawali, lab technician at the health desk of Jamunaha border.

According to Gyawali, testing was intensified at Nepal-India border after three people were diagnosed with COVID-19 infection.

Among 63 samples tested for COVID-19, three were found positive, said Gyawali.

COVID-19 was confirmed among two women who returned from Himanchal State of India and one young man who had returned from Gadwal of India.

All the COVID-19 infected people have fever for five days, informed the health desk. All the infected people were vaccinated with against COVID-19. They have received both doses of vaccine against COVID-19.

According to Gyawali, the infected individuals are asked to stay in home isolation and contact a nearby health centre if they feel discomfort and have any health problem.

COVID-19 test was halted at the Jamunaha border due to the local level election which was held on May 13.

The COVID-19 tests have resumed for two days, and the new cases were detected in the first two days of testing.

The health desk has so far detected COVID-19 infection among 1,306 people at the Jamunaha border.

The border area has been tightened after the detection of infection among India returnee Nepali people, said Tej Oli, Corona Focal Person of the Jamunaha border. “We have also increased surveillance among the India returnees,” said Oli.
