The government is conducting Computer-Based Test (CBT) of Korean language from March 27 for workers eligible for re-entry to Korea under the Employment Permit System (EPS). 

Gyan Nath Dhakal, officer at the EPS-Nepal Office said, CBT has introduced targeting Nepali workers, who have already worked in Korea for three years and want to re-enter the country for employment. 

EPS-Nepal office, which has been coordinating the process to recruit Nepalis for Korean jobs, is distributing forms for the test from April 6 to April 8. 

“We will start Korean language test from March 27 for the candidates who meet the criteria set for CBT. However, we are not in a position to tell for how long the exams would be conducted as we don´t know the exact number of candidates,” Dhakal told Republica on Saturday. However, officials estimated the number of candidates for CBT to hover between 500 and 700. 

According to EPS-Nepal office, candidates who returned from Korea after January 1, 2010 after working there for more than three years and are between 18-39 years of age are eligible for the CBT.

EPS-Nepal, in coordination with Human Resource Department (HRD) of Korea is planning to conduct the CBT of Korean language every four months. “Workers who have worked illegally in Korea and those who are prohibited the by Nepal government from travelling abroad are not eligible for re-entry,” added Dhakal. The government has already arranged a rented hall that can accommodate around 30 examinees for the test.

The government decided to allow re-entry of Nepali workers to Korea on July 2, 2012.

Officials said candidates who pass the exam will be listed by the Korean government for re-entry to the country. “The process to recruit them for Korean jobs will start once local employers come up with employment offers for aspirants,” Dhakal added.
