Body not sent back even six months later

The body of Khime Sunar, of Arkha, Pyuthan, who was working in Saudi Arabia has been stuck there for the past six months after his unexpected death.

Sunar had flown abroad about three years ago for employment.

Though his family learnt about his death six months ago, all they could do was to wait for his body to be brought back. “He had left home promising us a better future, but all our dreams were shattered the moment we heard about his death,” said the deceased’s father Gyan Bahadur, “We could have consoled ourselves by performing his final rites, but bringing back his body is too expensive for a poor family like ours. I’ve gone all the way to Kathmandu many times to request the concerned manpower agency to help us get his body, but to no avail,” Gyan Bahadur said, adding they only knew that their son worked for a Chinese company.

Khime is survived by his parents, wife and three children. Local social leader Mitra Bahadur Thapa dwelt on the plight of the family and urged the authorities to do the needful to help the family get Khime’s body back.
