Bilateral consultations deal with Israel
Nepal and Israel have signed a memorandum of understanding on the establishment of bilateral consultations between the Foreign Ministries of two countries.
The MoU was signed by foreign secretaries in Jerusalem on Wednesday in the presence of visiting Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Kamal Thapa and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, the Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
The MoU provides a mechanism at high level of the two Foreign Ministries to discuss and exchange views on all aspects of bilateral relations and international issues of common concerns.
During the meeting, the two sides reviewed the bilateral relations and exchanged views on strengthening and consolidating these relations for the mutual benefit of both the countries, the statement read.
On the occasion, DPM Thapa appreciated spontaneous and generous support from the people and government of Israel in search, rescue, and rehabilitation of the victims in the aftermath of the devastating earthquake last year. He also requested the Israeli PM to take in more workers from Nepal.
Expressing Israeli government’s willingness to extend more support to Nepal, PM Netanyahu instructed the concerned officials to recommend measures to further bilateral cooperation in areas of reconstruction and development.
